ABOUT ME
My design practice evolved from an early start as a painter. I studied art at Yale and Pratt, then moved to New York City and began to work informally as a contractor. This experience, combined with my art background, positioned me to begin working as a designer, somewhere between art and architecture. I have built gallery spaces, offices for fashion designers (Eli Tahari, Sandy Chilewich), as well as lofts and interior spaces for filmmakers (Jonathan Demme), gallerists (Julie Saul), artists (Phillip Pearlstein, Marylyn Dintenfass) architect (late Paul Rudolph), academics, and professionals. Current projects include a home for the actor Bill Murray and the psychologist Esther Perel. Design, as I have practiced it, is a form of problem-solving that aims to find the right balance of beauty and function, while customizing each project. I work very closely with clients on finding furniture, materials, colors, and light fixtures that have style, originality, and functional elegance. My concern is to pull spaces together visually and to respond to the individual histories, personal flair, and design needs of my clients.
