CENTRAL PARK west apt

The building regulations covering this large rental apartment did not allow for any major construction or demolition.  But the client wanted the space to have a more open feel and a more elegant procession from room to room.   In order to achieve the client’s goals, I used a carefully curated selection of wall colors, lighting, and built-ins.  The apartment adhered to a minimalist design while projecting warmth through the use of an earthy overall color palette, sheer fabric curtains, and plush carpeting.  Another intervention involved installing two rows of uplighting to connect the living room with the entry foyer.  The effect was to integrate the disparate existing spaces and gently extend the gaze from the entryway into the living room.  Additional elements, such as the flexible, angled mirror and a reflective glass panel, helped reshape the apartment without adding or demolishing walls.
