ARTIST’S LOFT

This triangular space took advantage of an expansive view of the Manhattan skyline.  The client, an artist, wanted a dedicated studio area that wouldn’t compromise the openness and light of the overall space.  A long, low wall was used as a divider of the space, useful for storage and as a display plinth for the artist’s small sculptures.  Additional spatial definition was created by using demarcated floor materials that marked out specific zones such as the kitchen, the living room, and the library.  Another key design consideration was balancing distinctive features of the loft’s original character with elegant kitchen fixtures and bookshelf detailing.  The main bathroom features a dramatic shaft of light emanating from a skylight, complementing the use of LED light strips throughout the loft.
